Fun Kid's Recipes for Creative Indoor Activities
Try These Easy to Make Recipes that Use Ingredients You
Already Have in Your Kitchen!
As the weather gets colder, and the kids are stuck indoors, it's good to
have a plan for keeping your children occupied. You only need to look in
your kitchen cupboards to find the ingredients
necessary to make these fun recipes that will fill your days with fun,
creative activities that will brighten even the dreariest of days!
Play Dough
2 cups boiling water
2 packages of unsweetened Koolaid or food coloring
Combine the above ingredients and stir until dissolved. Add:
2-1/2 cups flour
1/2 cup salt
1 teaspoon oil
Mix well and add more flour to reach desired consistency. Store in an air
tight container.
Glurch
1/2 cup liquid starch
1 cup white glue
Put starch into the mixing bowl first. Add glue and mix with your hands.
Knead until elastic and smooth. Food coloring may be added to the starch if
desired.
Goop
1 cup corn starch
4 cups water
1/3 cup sugar
food coloring
Combine and cook until thick. Seal it in a Zip lock bag.
Soap Bubbles
1 cup water
2 teaspoons liquid Dawn or Joy
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon glycerin
Mix all ingredients together. Use immediately.
Finger Paints
3 tablespoons sugar
1/2 cup cornstarch
2 cups cold water
food coloring
liquid detergent
Mix sugar and cornstarch together; add water. Cook over low heat, stirring
constantly until well blended. Divide the mixture. Add a little food
coloring and some detergent to make colors.
Soap Crayons
1 cup laundry soap
Add 30-40 drops of food coloring. Add water by teaspoonful until soap is
liquid. Stir well. Pack soap into ice cube trays. Set in sunny place to
dry for two days.
Crayons will become hard. Great for writing in the tub or sink.
Puff Paint
Combine equal parts of water, salt and flour. Mix well. Add food
coloring. Put in a squeeze bottle and paint. Takes a few hours to dry.
